27/2/2012 I hadn’t booked any accommodation for Hokitika and while I was in Punakaiki, I was trying to figure out where I was going to stay. I did some research online and also checked the Rough Guide of New Zealand which I’d brought with me. I wanted to stay in the Drifting Sands hostel. They… Read more »

25/2/2012 The best time to see the Pancake Rocks is at high tide, when the water crashes against the blowholes at the bottom and sends plumes of foam and water up in the air, nearly as high as the platform you stand on. It’s a twenty minute loop walk out to the rocks and blowholes…. Read more »
25/2/2012 At 6.30am my alarm went off and I got up reluctantly and packed the rest of my stuff. I walked down to the bus terminal and it was with sadness that I left Nelson. It was a great few days, especially with the whole experience of the Abel Tasman Walk. I was heading to… Read more »

We took the scenic route via Eastbourne, where we stopped at the Chocolate Dayz Café, drove past Petone and took the old road up to Paekakariki Hill and Poterua and then… Read more »
16/2/2012 I arrived in Wellington at 5pm after an eight hour bus ride and was met by a friend of mine, Lucette, who I’d met the last time I was here. I was going to be staying with her and her family for five days and I was looking forward to it. This time my… Read more »
